Viral RT PCR - (Mar/20/2006 )

Hello,
I'm currently undergoing a in vivo study of prevalence of RNA viruses from blood,
I have a hard time deciding which RT protocol is best fitted: a hexamer based general RT then amplified by different PCR reactions, or a one step virus specific RT PCR.
Does anybody have experience with amplifying viruses.
Cheers

We amplify viral RNA from plasma, and we do this by one or two step RT PCR with specific primers.

Thanks for your message,
Do you reckon the use of hexamer would have an acceptable yield?
