RNA extraction - freezing homogenate - (Mar/13/2006 )

Hi,
I am starting to use the RNeasy Lipid Tissue Kit (Qiagen) and I wonder whether after the first homogenization step in Qiazol reagent (is a monophasic solution of phenol and guanidine thiocyanate) I can freeze the homogenate at -80 degrees and procede later with the addiction of chloroform and the following steps of the protocol. I know that another Qiagen kit (RNeasy kit non- specific for fatty tissue in which Qiazol is NOT used, but it contains buffer RLT) this possibility is described after homogenization in buffer RLT (guanidine isothiocyanate (GITC)-containing buffer) and samples are stable for months this way.

Someone can help me ?
Thank you in advance!

Given that you can happliy freeze Trizol homogenates then I would say yes
