What does the term "smear" mean in PCR ? - (Mar/05/2006 )

I had my first PCR experiment last week. I don't know many terms about it.
Please tell me the meaning of smear in PCR. Thanks! smile.gif

well when you have non specific annealing, primers are fixed aberrantely on template and on products. Finally you have quite all length fragment produced en that drive a smear.

In which language do you prefer talking?
