Homozygous transgenic rats - (Feb/28/2006 )

Hi All,

I am searching a way to distinguish hemizygous transgenic rats from homozygous by PCR. They are talking about 3 primer pairs. Could you make it more clear ? Thanks. smile.gif

Hi

there will be 3 primers: 1 will be for wild type, one for the mutant and one will be common to both. You will get 2 bands on the gel, one of which will be for homozygous mutant, and one for homozygous wildtype, the presence of 2 bands will be the hemizygous.

Cheers,
Bob

Thanks Bob. However, there is no wt allel in my rats. They are transgenic, not knocked-out.sad.gif
