VersaDoc 5000 (biorad) for Westerns - Help! Oh help! AHHH!!!!!! (Feb/08/2006 )

In my quest to eliminate my nemesis, the arch villian film, I have used my ninja skills to master the Western Blot imaged on a GE/Amersham Storm 840 Phosophoimager, and it is indeed a beautiful thing in many ways....

However, I also have access to a top of the line everything included Versadoc 5000, which is a fancy-schmancy camera in a box.

Now, the versarad literature says all over it that the machine is great for western blotting, and indeed, I have found many an article that says "we observed our membranes with a VersaRad XXXX," but what I haven't found is a protocol that explains how to use the bloody thing for this purpose.

Anyone out there experienced enough in the ways of the Versarad to explain it to me with little words? (or better, go "here is the protocol I use.")

I use their chemi-doc for chemi imaging and UV stuff; I think they are somewhat similar in setup

I have found that once you mess around in the software a bit, and then figure out which type of light source you want, the rest is just toggle switches...

I hope this is helpful for you?
