Precipitation of 10X TBE - (Jan/19/2006 )

Pages: 1 2 Next

Hey everyone,

I have encountered this problem a few times. After returning to a bottle of 10X TBE I find there is a white precipitate. Is there anyway of removing this white ppt and to continue using the rest of the TBE?

Thanks

Pete

warm it up in a 37 degree waterbath and the precipitate will dissolve.

Hi,

This precipitate isn't just EDTA, is it? Have you checked the pH of the TBE?

i encouter the same as well, heating will NOT help, even heating an sonification doesn't really solve the problem. it helps to filter the buffer after preparation ... i'm also wondering, what is precepitating there. seems, that if you have some kind of nuclei for crystallisation .. there you go ..

yes, same problem here with my SDS solution.
once it precipitates, it will always precipitates, I tried to filter it after solubilizing it, to get rid of this lilttle $### that make it precipitate, no matter, it still precipitates.

Hi Pete,

In my lab TBE 10X and SDS always have precipitated and I never though it could be a problem...

SDS resuspends with about 10 minutes in a 37ºC bath and when TBE 10X is precipitated we use to autoclave it. We've never had any problem afterwards.

Hope it helps.

after preparing my solutions I autoclave them . I have never seen precipitation. I dont know what the reason is. atleast for 6 months - 8 months I have used those TBE buffers and never seen precipitates.
may be u can try 6 X TBE if u dont use a lot

-Watson-

I use 5x regularly ... also precipitates

-Kersten-

I always autoclave the buffer after I prepare it. This helps as I have never had autoclaved TBE precipitate on me 10x or otherwise.
