help with buffer 5.1 for RNA extraction - (Jan/17/2006 )

Dear all,

anyone who knows how to prepare the buffer 5.1 for RNA extraction? Does that all the reagent need to be RNase free? Where can we get them?

Thanks a lot

Which supplier and which kit?

I want to make it by myself. like buying EDTA, sodium acetate et al. What is a good vender ?

Thanks

You will have to define what exactly is buffer 5.1

If I asked you "how do I make buffer XF8?" you wouldn't know what I was talking about. This is what is happening here

The buffer which you fill to keep the phenol from oxidize. It has EDTA, sodium acetate, glacial acetic acid, all of these need to be RNase free.

I doubt the reagents need to be RNase free as the phenol will strip away any proteins, however I tend to buy mol bio grade chemicals for all my work

Thanks a lot!
