protein loss in sterile filtration - suggest the 0.22 micron filter (Jan/12/2006 )

dear all

i have been loosing my protein up to 30% during sterile filtration, where as with less hydrophobic and hydro phylic natured proteins. i need to fgilter upto 2 litres of final protein bulk.

please any body can suggest good vendor for 0.22 filters with less adsorbant .

thank u

Hi,
Millipore is usually really good for filters. You will need to make sure you buy a non- or low-binding filter. Likely that your protein may be sticking to the filter.

Nitrocellulose membrane filters would adsorb less protein i suppose. U using that one?

We have those filters in the lab, I will have a look to tell you.
I don't remember the name.
