Does BSA slow DNA migration in agarose gels? - (Dec/30/2005 )

Hello,
Someone told me that BSA could slow migration of DNA in electrophoresis. Is that true?
How much is that interference?
If I run a restriction digest without purification direct into an agarose gel, can I trust in Molecular markers?

Hi,

well I know that certain restriction enzymes tend to stick to DNA thus slowing down migration in agarose gels.
A suggestion would be to add SDS to a final of 0,1 % v/v which disrupts protein structures and load your sample on the gel to see if it makes any difference.

Cheers
