DNA ladder for RNA analysis? - (Dec/19/2005 )

Hello all!

Is anybody know if one can use a dsDNA ladder to analyse the length of RNA transcripts in a denaturing (formamide) polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis? That is, do denaturated dsDNA strands migrate the same way as "denaturate" (i.e. unfolded) ssRNA of the same length?

Thank you.

hi
i use primers as pseudo-RNA ladder and it works well in a 15%acryl 8Murea gel

Hi,

I commonly use DNA ladder during run-off transcription analysis. I just treat it as though it was RNA (glyoxylation reaction) and it works fine everytime. It's more or less going to migrate the same. I typically run an RNA sample that I know is intact as well.
