High throughput RNA extraction - (Dec/16/2005 )

Is there any suggestions on high throughput RNA extraction? It should be at least 96 well plate based method. I am aware of the kits from qiagen, gentra and ambion. Is there any modified method that is more cost effective?

Thanks.

hai,
well, using TRIzol reagent actually helps you to obtained high yield of RNA rather than using those expensive RNA extraction kits.
good luck

But TRIzol is not that friendly to be used for high throughput extraction.

ooo..ok..i guess u have to use an expensive method...i can't think of usual way to produce high throughput RNA extraction other than using the commercialized RNA extraction kit..sorry.. sad.gif

The ChargeSwitch RNA from cells kit can be used in a 96 well format, manually or automated

Does it work for plant tissues?

jeff.quo, we are using a 96-well plate extraction vacuum method from BioRad that works very well with plant tissue, and is much cheaper than Qiagen.

How much for each sample?

Do you know any 96 well plate for both DNA and RNA isolation?

Thanks.

it works out to ~2.10 US per sample. i don't know of any plate extraction system designed to work for both DNA and RNA.
