Western Blots - Monoclonal or Polyclonal Antibody...? - Which one to use? (Nov/30/2005 )

Hi,

I want to do some Western blots against tetR protein from E. coli. I looked at the catalog of a company - MoBiTec which sells the antibodies, but they offer both monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies. Which one should I choose and what is the criteria?

Thanks,
Pachak

Hi,
when I'm looking for an antibody to use, I check the literature. The firm may advertise that the antibody is suited for Western blotting, but you get more reliable information from publications. Some companies also list these references to their antibodies on the website. Depending on your situation, the price of the antibody can also be decisive.

I hope this helps,
Karl
