PBS buffer + HEPES buffer - can be mixed together? - Can I mix two protein in different buffers, same pH? (Nov/28/2005 )

Hi,

I need to mix two proteins togther in solution; problem is that one is in 20 mM HEPES -150 mM HCL buffer pH 7.2, and the second in the 50 mM phosphate buffer -150 mM NaCl, pH 7.2. These proteins do not like much next dialyse - they precipitate, and their concentration even before dialyse is rather low.
Question is - is it anyway possible to mix them together without precipitation of the buffer ingredients?

Thank you

hi
i'm not sure about getting by this method the results ad hoc, but you can see first if you can mix the two buffers and keep the good pH by mixing the two stock solutions

hi,

this should be fine. these reagents will not precipitate when mixed. have fun.
