explanation of miniprep of E. coli - miniprep of e.coli genomic dna? (Nov/22/2005 )

miniprep will extract and purify the plasmid dna... so what happens to the genomic dna? where does it go?

and is plasmid naturally occuring in wild type e.coli

As plasmid DNA and genomic DNA takes different timings for renaturation during Neutralisation step, and as we precipitate the earlier genomic DNA along with proteinicious lysate, plasmid will be still in supernatant. This supernatant with plasmid is purifified in the later steps, theirby avoiding the genomic DNA contamination.
