Spce RNA/DNA Quartz curvette? - (Nov/18/2005 )

Hi,

Just wondering when you are specing RNA and DNA is it essential to us a quartz curvette?

If you dont how does this effect your results?

Thanks

a quartz cuvette will give the most precise results, but you can use plastic cuvettes instead ... but it should than be stated, that you use them for UV measurement. standard plastic will absorb UV-light

Hi,

I agree with Kersten. I always use a standard plastic cuvette, and no problem so far.

i always uyse quartz cuvettes as results given are more accurate than in plastic cuvettes

Just make sure that your Quartz cuvette is very clean - if it is dirty or has detergent residue then you can end up with an inaccurate measurement.
