Concentrating DNA w/o a speed vac - (Nov/11/2005 )

The lab I am in will be moving to a new building which does not have a speed vac in the comon equipment area. Before purchasing a new speed vac, we would like to know of any cheaper methods to increase DNA concentration in a number of samples on a regular basis. Any help or information that could be provided would be wonderful.

Thank you.

What about percipitation (ethanol or isopropanol ), or spin columns like those in a PCR cleanup kit?

You could also remove water with the addition of n-butanol, which mixes with water in small volumes, but separates after saturating with water. You can control the volume of the resulting liquid by controlling the amount of n-butanol added.
