Apochromatic or achormatic lens in microscopy - (Nov/09/2005 )

Trying to view some cells under blue-green light (500nm). To eliminate chromatic abberations, should i use an achromatic and apochromatic lens? thanks for any help.

If you are viewing at a single color, you don't need color correction. Achromatic lenses are corrected for two colors; apochromatic are corrected for three, but cost many times as much. Apo lenses are typically the top of the line lenses in a microscope line. Achromats are typically at the bottom. In between, fluors are popular compromises.
