Old telomerase - PCR elisa kit - can it work? - (Nov/09/2005 )

Lately I've found and dig out a kit for Telomerase PCR ELISA, apparently never used, dated 1998. Someone must have bought it and changed plans later. How do you think - is it still usable?
I know of 7-years old Taq polymerase which was in fact working (I don't know how the efficiency differed, though).
I am asking because my boss is very happy about this discovery and wants to use it, but he's not molecular, so...

Plus: I suspect it will work in some degree, but is it reliable, that is the question...

hi
seven years are quite old... But it's interesting to try since you have the kit.
But if it was stored -20° instead of -80° (if recommended) you can throw it away.

It was recommended at -20 and stored in -20, I'd have to check how were the control cell extracts
preserved - liophilised (good) or in solution (bad).
I am afraid though that even if it works, the results will be unreliable.

Thanks anyway smile.gif
