Narrow bands while running SDS-PAGE - (Nov/07/2005 )
Hi,
I'm running a large gel and I'm noticing that sometimes I have lanes that tend to "shrink" and become really narrow - does anyone know of any reasons for this? The current gel is 19.5 cm x 15.5 cm and is 7% acrylamide. My lab's protocol is to run these gels at a constant current of 65 mA (202V).

I think you may be running your gel at too high voltage. I normally run it at 100-120V.
