Use Zeocin to isolate Zeocin resistant clones - (Oct/26/2005 )

Dear all,

I m going to clone a gene into a vector with Zeocin resistant gene.
I would like to ask:
1. Is zeocin light sensitive?
2. How long can i keep the agar plate with Zeocin? (Will the zeocin degrade very fast?)
3. When i incubate the plate or inoculumn contain zeocin, do i need to keep put them in a dark area?

Thank you!!!!

hi
zeocin is not that sensitive. It's better to store it at 4° (and i assume your fridge doesn't light all the time laugh.gif) and you can keep zeo plates for more than a month...
