nutrients & gene expression - (Oct/19/2005 )

hi there -

I just started reading up on something called nutritional genomics, where the basic premise is that the consumption of nutrients effect gene expression and regulation. I've come across some basic literature but need to delve a bit futher, and have the following questions.

1) could anyone point me to some in depth studies along with techniques used to determine the impact of certain nutrients on gene expression?

and

2) is there a computational ascpect to the field?

any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I know that diet can influence gene expression via epigenetic pathways such as DNA methylation and histone modifications. If you search Medline using "diet epigenetic" for example, you will get a bunch of results.

I don't think computation has much role in identifying such relationship.
