non-lab jobs - (May/28/2017 )
I am looking to transition out of lab based research positions into non-scientist roles. Please send advice where I can search for non-lab based roles in industry.

It's a little difficult as you haven't said what sort of role you would like to do - technical advice? writing? accounting? management? communication? IT? the list goes on. You also haven't said where you are (Europe? North America?, Africa, Asia?, Oceania?) or what environment you might like to work in - hospital? government? manufacturing? etc.
Having said that, you should be looking at things like Linkedin - use your contacts, use the contacts of contacts. Jobs are also often advertised in things like Science and Nature, as well as on job aggregators like Monster.com.

I find your question a bit weird to begin with.
There are so many non lab-jobs.
- salesman (selling products for labs to labs/universities)
- working as a supervisor (safety) in labs
- being a supply manager
- working in pharmaceutical companies to write about pharmacy guidelines
- working for newspapers or something like that as a writer on science
- working as a recruiter for science jobs
- working for the government as an advisor
- ....
No idea what it is you look for
+ it also depends on the country where you are based at.
Also: what is a lab job for you? Because you said you want to transition from lab based research positions to non scientist roles, but then you say also: non lab based roles in industry.
There are still non lab based jobs where you still are a scientist but do not really do the bench work....
So a bit unsure what it is you want.
The first sentence makes it sound like you might as well start working as a shop keeper (as in: no science for me anymore), but the second part makes it sound you still want to do science, but just not actively at the bench anymore.
I tried working briefly in the cardboard factory and in tea-room kitchen and I kind of fond out I can't really do many other things apart from research. Just not that kind of person. Also, not a company person either, obviously.
My university classmate left science after being really very upset after PhD (bad lab I would say) and now, 12 years later she has a job, more or less administrative, been working abroad some years too, but she doesn't seem to see much sense in the job. This is same for another one, that considered going into other close business, but felt it was just useless money-making job, with no bigger vision.
Most of us didn't go to study this field for money, but we wanted the thrill of science. It's good to consider if the reason you want to leave is just temporary or definite, so you don't regret the decision later.

Those are really weird jobs , how does someone even end up in those "fields" after a PhD? Seems so random.
Science .... the problem is that most of the "science" is not about doing science anymore after you get that PhD.... I never understood it.
