Forensic science trainee - (Jun/29/2014 )

Hi! all,

I am currently looking for forensic science jobs opportunities. I have graduated this may with a forensic science degree (molecular biology) and I am desperately looking for a job.

I am currently interning at the Medical Examiners office in New York City where I am learning so much/practical work. I am an international student, so its kind hard to get hired. where ever I am applying they want you to be a citizen. It is soo frustrating

Does anybody know any  international organizations or any relevant info will help. I am willing to work anywhere in the world

Thank you,

This is a tough one - A lot of these sorts of degrees are not actual training in the requirements for being a specialist in the field.  For those you often need to attend a specialist course where you get specific training.  I think this is the case for much of the western world, so you may not have much luck finding something outside the US/Canada.  However, as you seem to be working with the degree you have, it is probably not the case in the US.  I'm no US citizen or even based in the US so take the following advice with a grain of salt:

If you work hard enough/your prospective employer wants you enough, then your employer should be able to sponsor you for either a green card or citizenship (I don't know the law around this - not US based at all).  I know a few people who have done Postdoctoral study in the US and their work permits/green cards were organized by the sponsoring organization, however husbands/wives/partners needed to be in the country for a while before they could get theirs.
