Government funding for scientific research in the world today - (Nov/24/2011 )

Just a curious question, how is the funding landscape around the world in the current day and age?

There has been alot of talk about reduced funding over here in Australia. It has apparently become increasingly competitive.
And how is the funding rounds like in other parts of the world?

I think its in many countries its the case..

In europe its the same: cut backs in science..
(but its still ok I think.. compared to the cut backs in the states for example.. altough, they can cut back more because they invested much for to start with...)

It also depends on the science: for example ==> biotechnical research is still funded a lot and will receive more and more in the future.. It is hard to tell..
