New map-based biotech job site - biopharmajoblist.com - (Apr/12/2010 )

Not having much luck with the major job sites, I recently created a different type of job search site that I hadn't seen before, and thought I would share with the group. Instead of posting the same jobs you see on Monster, CareerBuilder, Indeed, etc this one (BioPharmaJobList.com) uses a map to show you all the biotech and pharma companies in your area. You click on one and it gives you a direct link to their job postings, plus a cool feature that lets you search your LinkedIn and Facebook contacts to see if you are already connected to anyone at that company who might be able to help you out. There is also a helpful list of companies with recent job news (announcements of expansion/hiring/firing/raising money).

I've been trying it out for my own job search, and so far I've had much better luck getting called for an interview. I think the jobs that get posted on the other major job sites get so many applicants that it is tough to stand out from the crowd. But many of these jobs have never been posted on a major site, so your odds are probably a lot better.

Right now I am trying to cover my development and hosting costs, so I am charging $2/month for access, but you can sign up for a free 7 day trial to see if you like it.

I would gladly welcome any feedback that can help improve the site.

Thanks,
Mike

It may actually work...
Few tips from first glance:
1. I would thing about shorter and more simple site name. This one make it sound like "just another website for job search"...
2. In generic 1024pix screen width, main page is too wide for browser - maybe it's just my personal feeling but I consider this to be sloppy design.
3. Similar thing for "Helpful books" - amazon sub-page you put in frame is too wide for 1024pix but this time just hides under the margins.
4. Get new fav-icon instead of generic one. ;)

I'm not looking for job right now but I saved link in favourites, just in case... :P

Thanks K.B. - I'll see if I can make some of those suggested changes to clean things up a bit!
