poly-L- vs. poly-D-lisine - (Aug/26/2005 )

Hello.
Can anybody tell if it's essentiall to use only poly-D-lisine when culturing neurons? Can I substitute it with poly-L-lisine? Will it make big difference?

Amino acid stereospecificity are sometimes very important, there is a lot of papers showing that one (L or D) isomer of amino acid is biologically active, and the second not. Better not to change isomers in the established procedures. So for cell culture I use L-glutamine, and for other studies L-cysteine, L-tyrosine...
