Is L-glutamine easily degradale in RPMI1640? if it is the case, I can not prepare a big volume for use each time!

Hi,

we usually prepare a volume of 500ml medium with 5 ml L-glu, and everything is working well. It will depend how oft you use the medium. I will estimated I use the 500ml bottle for min one month. But we aliquot the L-glu (5-6ml) and froze them in order not to have to defroze everytime the stock solution.

Good luck

Just to add to Cuca's advice, in the event that my media is still sitting there in the fridge after a month, I add half the initial volume of L-glu that was initially added to ensure that there is still some L-glu there (it does degrade after some time).

You could also try glutamax, which is more stabile than L-glu.
