How to eliminate mycoplasma contamination? - Help (Jul/07/2005 )

sad.gif
Almost all HEK293 cell lines, including some stable recombinant cell lines, are contaminated by mycoplasma. We detected these cells through PCR method and the results turned out to be weak contamination by mycoplasma. The annoying problem is that these cell lines are precious for us and we cannot just discard them. I am wondering which way is effective to eliminate mycoplasma from our cell lines? Please give me any suggestions you have, Thanks a lot!

Hi ,
you can use a mycoplasma removal agent (MRA). This agent has been shown to be effective in the elimination of various types of mycoplasma form contaminated cultures. This product is distributed by MP Biomedicals and it's a little bit expensive (300 euros for 5 ml).

We used for our lab and it works well.
