A foreign lab will kindly ship me a mammaian cell line.  But  the cells they have were in the -80 freezer instead of nitrogen for the  many years. Does anyone have idea what the chance I can still raise them?

You have good chances. I have cultured cells, I stored in my lab at -80C for more than 1 year.

You can try using the medium (filtreded) from activel growing cells in your lab and thaw them in T25 as was suggested by others. The medium from other actively growing cells help them recover better. Use higher concentration of serum in medium. Remeber to filter the medium to avoid the contamination from other cell line.
