But it's interesting that the example you gave included an Alu, i guess it all depends on how close the alu is from the CpG island and if in fact the alu plays a vital role in Cadherin regulation.

As for the reviewer we won't know who they are until I go and present it at a conference and someone comes up to me nit-picking. Our lab is a baby when it comes to the field of methylation and we were hammered by the reviewers who are steadfast on current rules and dogmas......

rules and dogmas are made to be broken!!!
