Biology Forum II - (Jan/24/2005 )
I found a great place to discuss biology. Comparatively speaking, it's far more inviting and you tend to get relatively quick responses in a short period of time.
Like myself, and most of us users here, I'm sure that you'd be much more happy to carry on conversations with members that are actually consistantly online.

Have you noticed that the site you mentioned copied the forum arrangement and even the description for each section from this forum??? Do you still call that more useful?
Are you sure this website didn't copy their format?
Either way, that other website forum is much more helpful because it has frequent regular users that answer most all questions.
If you haven't noticed, this websites forum has over 5000 members, only about 10 of which are actually still participating.
In my opinion, this webiste is honestly very poor.

I checked your link for the "other" forum, and while you were right with the fast answers, I found the topics disussed there tend be be of a less sophisticated level than here. specifically, I think the "other" forum is better for "school/education" type of questions (such as how does sexual reproduction work and what are invertebrates), while here much more specific topics are discussed by people who actually work in life-sciences-labs all over the world and have specific problems, they hope to find an answer to here (like do you recommend 50 or 75 mM of something in that special buffer, or "I get strange bands in PCR, anyone ideas what could be the reason?").
So, the other forum is a place to find general information, here you will get specific information. since they are quite specific questions, and biology is a broad field, you here have to wait longer for an answer, 'cause somebody has to come along who can answer to your specific problem from his own experience, while the "others" forum questions could -in my oppinion- be answerd by a good textbook, too.
besides, I'm quite sure this forum here was the "first" since it's been around for over 4 or 5 years, and has hundreds of posts, and the other forums has not nearly as many.... I don't know who copied who for sure, but I have seen layouts like these two all over the net. AFAIK these are quite standard forum templates, so in my oppinion, there's noone to blame.
