Ask for advice on a protein study - (Jan/09/2005 )
Hi, everyone
I want to study a protein functions. It is found that this protein locates in
both nucleus and cytoplasm but mainly aggregate in nucleus. So what kind of
functions I can guess this protein has and what kind of experiments I can
try?

I think it's may be a transcriptional factor ,then you can do CHIP or EMSA etc..However,it may bind to chromatine and affect its conformation.
Only my opinion,how do you think about it.May it can help you.Gook luck! -Rovy-

rovy is right. We can add properties regarding cell cycle/division. so you can check if the relatve quantity is modified during the cell cycle (FACS after synchronisation of cells).
Here again it's only my opinion.
