Cell counts using absorbance/turbidity - Cell counting (Dec/08/2004 )

We want to develo methods for counting cells via absorbance/turbidity. As I searched the available readers, I became somewhat confused. Different readers use different wavelengths. Does anyone have a preffered method and instrument?

Thank you

i think long wavelengths (around 600) are generally used. and i don't think it matters so much which method you use, so long as you take the trouble to correlat that particular method to your own bacterial species, by doing live counts and turbidity at the same time points. i'd repeat it a few times to get a realy good calibration graph.
