Using galactose oxidase - (Dec/05/2008 )

Hey.
I am in need of introducing an aldehyde function to a glycosylated protein.
As of now my plan is to use galactose oxidase (though other alternatives such as sodium periodate exist).
However, I have been quite unsuccessful in finding protocols or assays using this enzyme, thus leaving me in the dark of concentrations and conditions.

Does anyone have any experience oxidizing an alcohol to an aldehyde on proteins (preferably using the above enzyme) or know of a good place to look?

Thanks.

Kristian

ps: I am also interested in hearing if anyone have a good way of verifying whether glycosylations are terminated with 5-acetylneuramic acid or not, should you have knowledge of that as well.
