How do cellular fractions look like on SDS-PAGE gel? - what bands am I supposed to see in different fractions? (Nov/30/2008 )

Do you know where I can find any picture of different cellular fractions on SDS-PAGE gel?
I've searched many papers, but they are no good.

what proteins are usually in cytoplasm or nucleus? I can detect actin even in my cytosolic fraction! why is that?

Perhaps this Merck article is something that can help. I don't think you will see much difference in coomassie blue stain though.

Lamin B1, TBP, Histones etc are in nucleus and are commonly used controls for nuclear fraction western,

Beta actin, GAPDH, tubulin etc are in cytoplasm and commonly used as markers for cytoplasmic fraction or whole cell lysate western.

ok thank you,

so in that case I should not be seeing any actin in my mitochondrial fraction. good, this can help.

the Merck picture is not from different fractions
