It sounds like you are looking for a junket wink.gif . If so the Queenstown Molecular Biology Meetings would be a good start point ( http://www.qmb.org.nz/ ).
Both countries have Molecular Biology societies (http://www.asbmb.org.au/ http://www.anzscdb.org/ANZNoticeBd.htm http://nzsbmb.rsnz.org/ ). These will give you links to other science associations.

happy hunting

Also look at ComBio, which has 5 or 6 societies meeting at the same time. It rotates venue each year (2009 is in Christchurch, NZ; http://www.asbmb.org.au/combio.html)

Best of all, though would have to be Lorne. Three meetings, Protein ( http://www.lorneproteins.org ), Cancer ( http://www.lornecancer.org ) and Genome ( http://www.genome-conf.net.au ), meet across a couple of weeks in February (which is late summer for us). A morning session, then a few hours free time in the afternoon (swimming, tennis, croquet, bushwalking), a poster session, dinner, an evening session then happy hour, or hours depending on your personal choice!

Great junket, I mean, a fantastic opportunity to hear some really excellent speakers etc etc blah blah blah.

Thanks your suggestions! I will check the web sites.

Actually my priority is not to go to Australia and/or New Zealand just for junket, fun. I would like to attend an interesting, high level conference from my field ("ROS cell signaling") somewhere else than in Europe. And I suppose that good science conferences are not only in USA. Of course when I would be in Australia, I would use this occasion to make a trip there... smile.gif
