Mounting camera to Olympus CK-30 microscope - Anyone done this? (Aug/11/2008 )

Hi,

I am looking to mount a digital camera to our microscope (Olympus CX30-F200). Has anyone got this microscope and done the same? I have been looking on various websites but with no luck - think mainly because the microscope is out of production at this stage.

Has anyone mounted a camera to the same microscope? If so which camera did you use etc?

Any help greatly appreciated!!!

You can try it with one of the Nikon Coolpix 990/995/4500 series. The objective opening fits quite exactly to the standard eyepiece diameter of microscopes and binoculars. And used cameras are now quite cheap e.g. at ebay. Disadvantage is only the resolution (3.4 or 4.5 megapixels), if it's really a disadvantage (not for me).
So just press camera to eyepiece (perhaps fixed with tripod), zoom if necessary, manually choose infinite as distance and make your photos. The quality is surprisingly good, if the illumination level is okay.
