Can we re-use antibody solutions just like Western Blot? - to save antibody (Jul/28/2008 )

hi,

when we do western blot and treat our membrane we save the antibody solution to re-use for other membranes. we keep the antibody solution (antibody, TBST , blocking solution) for 4-5 more experiments so this way we can save antibodies.

can we do this for ELISA?

I have no experience with ELISA.

thanks
Curtis

We also keep our antibodies at 4C for several months for western blotting. To do so, we add some Sodium Azide into the antibody in blocking solution to keep out unwanted creatures.
TBST I keep max 1 week, blocking solution around 3-4 days.

Hope this helps. rolleyes.gif

so you are saying we can do it for ELISA, right?

Yes. You should coat with same volume...but the coating time will be longer. Do an OD check of your coating solution. Usually your coating ab is in excess. We used coating soltions 2 or 3 times for a commercial test kit.

I am not sure but you may have to coat the same day or within a short period of time.
