How to dissolve Tributyrin? - (Jul/03/2008 )

I need to dissolve tributyrin in the culture media (DMEM). I`ve tried to dissolve first in ethanol 100%. When I mixed in the culture media, I saw at microscope tributyrin droplets ohmy.gif . Someone have some idea, to help me dissolve the tributyrin.

If you need to use it at high concentrations, you may need to make an emulsion with some surfactants, like egg phosphatidyl choline, tween 80, rooughly 1:1 w/w ratio by vortex then sonication till droplets become small and no settleing after like 1 hr, then pass a 0.22 um filter.

Alternatively, try and see if diluting it into BSA solution would help.
