Formate as carbon source and eletron donor - (Jul/02/2008 )

HI.

Can anybody help me with a question??

I know that Formate can be used as carbon source in microorganisms. But it should also be possible to use it as electron donor.

How is this possible? How does carbon get integrated for biosynthesis? And what is the mechanism for this??
