pcr shelf life? - (Jun/30/2008 )

Hi all, I'm working with plant ssr's and recently took a field season(about a month) meanwhile I had samples of pcr product that didn't get submitted for scoring in a 4 C fridge. I'm now back and wondering if the pcr product would still be viable, I would run it back out on a gel but I've already run one and running it again probably wouldn't leave me with enough to submit. It's not difficult for me to just do another pcr but I have the product already I just don't know what the shelf life for pcr product in a fridge is, if anyone has any experience let me know or if this has already been discussed link me to it, I'm still new so my searching may not be turning up optimal results, cheers!

If you are planning on submitting for sequencing, I wouldn't trust a sample that was more than a couple of days old, even if it had been frozen.
Unfortunately, and ironically, if you had just done the PCR again instead of writing to ask your question, it would have been done and the sample in for analysis (assuming that's your plan...). Sometimes you just have to do the experiment again without asking advice. That's life, I suppose rolleyes.gif
