This is the dawn of a bad day... - ...and you can't dodge it! (Jun/05/2008 )

Pages: 1 2 Next

Hey guys!
Today is going to be a very bad day for me. Unfortunately it's not palmistry tongue.gif , it's because of the schedule and the people's mood.
Yesterday, when I fell asleep I was thinking about this day. Today I woke up thinking that I had to come to work and manage it somehow. Anyway, this situation doesn't stimulate me to do my best. It's just making me feel sick.
We all know that #^§* happens, and I've guts to face this day but I have to admit that today I feel particularly anxious.

So, the question is: what is your stress relieving strategy when you know a bad day is coming/started and you can't escape?

-ila-

I found over my short life (tongue.gif) that self talk is the best way to go. You have to try to calm yourself, think about great things in your life, take some deep breath and face your situation. The goal here is certainly not to avoid the situation, but to face it being calm and relax. If you have to take a blame, accept it, and try to learn from it.

I wish you good luck with your day!

relax ila, it's almost weekend. when that kind of things happen to me i still think of what happened after it happened for a few hours, then it goes away. most of the times it could be worse than it actually is. think about the trip to galapagos the bioforum gang will make one day!

Hi Ila,

I guess bad day's done (at least for you guys over there) and was it really soo bad as you expected or worse wink.gif ? If i'm not spreading peace and tranquility around the planet..I am anxious so that means all the time biggrin.gif . When extremely anxious, what I usually did was to run at the break of dawn..kick some lamp posts and neighbor's fences and rile the dogs a bit...when it's not possible to run (this is the true north remember) then I shovel snow...a very relaxing activity laugh.gif. But gone are those running days..now I do hatha yoga and some meditation instead ( kicking lamp posts was more fun tho) but you shld check it out if you haven't already..Hope you'd be feeling better tomorrow...

Our casey as small-time criminal, interesting. But what she's doing here sometimes is similar to the above in a virtual way. laugh.gif wacko.gif
And we are the dogs glare.gif wacko.gif

Anyway I eat chocolate and try to avoid thinking about it, but to take my mind off it. If it won't work, I make plans what to do to "survive" this day, with different strategies and ideas for various eventualities. To be prepared for all helps me a lot (even if it is just an illusion). Sometimes sports (ride my bicycle).

wacko.gif Kicking fences and lamp posts is not a criminal offense but... maybe riling up the dogs is..and I forgot the cussing while kicking the fences and lamp posts..that's probably the best stress-reliever... smile.gif

so you eat chocolates eh dr hobbes? Maybe even if you're not stressed you'd stuff yourself with chocolates..I think you'd even stress yourself out just to have an excuse to engorge yourself with chocolates or you'd pretend to be all stressed out so you can keep a stash of chocolates for all those imagined stressful moments...I think your bike must be very stressed indeed... laugh.gif
btw who let the dogs out?

PS

Ila, do you also eat chocolates for stress relief?

Public nuisance, malicious mischief, and all the other legal terms. But in Canada perhaps the habits are different. And chocolate why not, it is healthy, too, as long as you're not becoming fat biggrin.gif
Woof!

wacko.gif But I was young then and besides these acts become misdemeanors only if you get caught red-handed or someone turns you in. And here in O’ Canada, we believe in rehabilitation. Once stricken with guilt then I do community service like shovelling snow..it’s a very good physical activity for stress relief. …

...hah..malicious mischief and public nuisance (where do you dig this stuff up) ..and how are they supposed to cheer Ila up.... but I agree with you on the chocolate issue... smile.gif

Ila, Gannbatte ney.

Keizoku wa chikara nari.

preserving through something difficult makes one stronger . . whatever does no kill us makes us stronger.

I remember a few times that has really been bad to me. Ones I messed up my experiment (the first time. . not the last) and what my senior here says? 'saru mo ki kara ochiru' (even monkeys fall from tea) . .. in short there was someone calling me a 'monkey' on top of all the bad feelings of messed up experiment unsure.gif

Bad times come and they go .. most of the time they do not stay.

I just go out and have ice-cream . .both good times and bad times.. heart-touching vanillas tongue.gif wub.gif
