How do you decide what to do for research? - (Jun/03/2008 )

Dear all,

How do you all start doing what you're doing right now? Is it by your interest in that research topic by a particular person? Would you do something that you're not familiar with?

I came across an offer for cancer research and it involves (among others) cell culture, cloning etc. which in my undergraduate years wasn't exposed to besides reading about them. Would it be wise to venture into something totally new?

don´t hesitate! go for it. new things are exciting and you learn a lot, despite starting is always difficult. I am doing something totally different than in the past and I don´t regret it, although at the beginning you feel the most stupid person in the building, but at the end you are much wiser!!Good luck!
