dounce homogenizer - how to use? - (May/08/2008 )

Hello everyone,

I've got a protocol that uses a drill-fitted dounce homogenizer to isolate mitochondria. I havent even seen a dounce homogenizer before! Can i use it just by hand?

Thanks and cheers!

Yes of course that's the way it is used wink.gif just go slowly at the beginning and don't try to process too much cells at the same time you have to use some force but reasonable wink.gif

I would use an ice bucket and place for example a soft tissue in contact with the dounce bottom and process on ice !

From the search results, the Pierce mitochondria isolation kit seems useful. Has anyone tried this kit with much success (with or without the dounce homogenizer)?

Cheers
