What REALLY REALLY bugs you? - Time for some R and R (Rant and Rave) (May/04/2008 )
We've done this before but mostly in the lab/work setting.. I think it's time for an expansion...
What bugs me?
To see healthy and able-bodied men and women in public transpo not give their seats up
for those who need them most. I’d really like to go over and break their leg and arm and neck
or inflict them with some kind of super-accelerated progeria or dump a child on each of their arms,
better yet, stuff their tummy with a 10 lb baby and then…stick them on the aisle where
they’d be constantly jostled and shoved and thrown forward and sideways
during a 45 min bumpy ride of a lifetime, meanwhile,
these idjits (esp those in the “reserved” seats) pretend to be sleeping or
listening to their idiopods or looking out the window oblivious to everything and everyone around them.….well, that really bugs me.

, so I don't have time and mood to be too much annoyed about the others (though there are many reasons). And I don't want to become William "Bill" Foster (aka "D-Fens" in this annoying film "Falling down"). This'd be a reason to commit suicide. -hobglobin-

My words! Today at the bus there was a bunch of school-children (boys of i would say 12 years) who were occupying half the bus making noise with their music-mobile phones or some other noise making gadgets. Some man dared to ask if they could be so kind to switch of their ********** music....and the answer was: "Hey grandpa, if you don't like it you can leave the bus!" (translation is weak, but what they said was very very offensive). But luckily the bus driver threw the boys out even if they were threatening with violence.....
So I don't like these groups of youngsters who are drinking because its cool and then run riot....destroying sings, benches, throwing bikes into the river or even cut down (big, old, beautiful) trees in parks. And they are really aggressive, in a neighboring town a group of teens were kicking dust bins all over the city and when they where told to stop it they punched two 40 year old men into the hospital (severe injuries). I cannot understand this aggression potential

it also bugs me that the government wants people to take public transpo (to save the planet and all that stuff) yet doesn't care enough about investing on it or at least in improving services so folks would be encouraged to do so....they just allow the increase in the price of gas....which is in a way effective but still.....

It would be interesting what people here (in this forum), instead of just feeling annoyed and ranting, are doing politically, if they are active or have time to join and work in NGO's, politically parties, etc. Or just resigning ignoring all this (at the moment mostly my way, unfortunately). At least I help in a nature conservation organisation but only with my hands (i.e. maintaining protection areas, helping toads to cross the streets etc

Ouch...did I just bug you, no actually, you just bugged me....I feel annoyed and do a lot of ranting and in my own way...I also do what I can..we're quite serious about volunteering and civic-mindedness here...unfortunately not much we can do about public transpo, infrastracture, health care except maybe elect a representative who will truly represent you but even then..so we rant and rave....
So how do you help toads cross...take their webbed hands gently into yours, put them on your shoulders while whistling a happy tune..yeah I can imagine you and the toad now.....

What about auxiliary bus driver, your temperament would fit
I help the toads (when migrating to their home water for spawning) that they're not run over by high-spirited bus drivers.

gossipy people drive me nuts. unfortunately the institute where i'm at is full of them. also not so educated people with pompous attitudes and closed minds as mdfenko says. undergrad labmates making out, the guy doesn't take the hands off the girl, when i told her it was not very comfortable she said "only PI or lab assistant have the authority to tell me something so f*ck off". no matter how many degrees some people have they are still really ignorant. i think that's what it comes to, same as the people who don't give their seats, aggressive kids, pompous people, they're ignorant.
