Using offshoots from micropropagated trees for further micropropagation - (May/03/2008 )

Hi everyone :ninja: ,

Has anyone come across any literature on the genetic stability of micropropagated trees using offshoots that are obtained from tissue cultured trees planted in the field particularly in date palms or bananas. Information on this topic or any other related micropropagation system involving offshoot propgation will also be useful.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Dadzi

there's this articule in science

Discovery of Transposable Element Activity Among Progeny of Tissue Culture—Derived Maize Plants
VIRGINIA M. PESCHKE, RONALD L. PHILLIPS, and BURLE G. GENGENBACH
Science, Nov 1987; 238: 804 - 807.

i remember reading an article about gene stability affected by aberrant methylation patterns in tissue culture but i can't remember the reference. you can look it up at http://highwire.stanford.edu

cheers.
