Where to get a human liver cel line - (Apr/23/2008 )

Where can I get a human liver cel line. Are there manufactures who cell them? Or do you need to ask a hospital for biopsies from patients?

cell line or primary culture (you seem to be talking about both)

Do you mean that I only can ask it to a hospital and that I have to ask biopsies for both? Or do you know manufactures where I can get it from?

huh?

i think your best bet is work out what you want it for - see what other people doing similar work have used - see where they got theirs from.
a lot of cell lines are simply passed between labs

as for the biopsies - pathology will get first crack at these so unless your are a liver specialising medic or have ties with pathology their leftovers might not be appropriate (fixed/frozen).

hope that helps

I've been searching for a long time. But I can't find papers where people use a normal human liver celline. They all use hepatoma cell lines like Huh7 or HepG2.
It is for HCV research, and I'd like to do my experiment on a normal human liver cell

is there such a thing as a normal liver cell line?(good place to start)
does it have to be human - animal livers might be an alternative direction.
can liver cells actually be grown in culture without mutation or alteration.
i realise you want your research to go in one direction but sometimes a parralel one works as well
