Buffers for molecular work - Didn't know where to post (Mar/18/2008 )

Dear all,

Does anyone know where I could find the formulation for the buffers needed in molecular biology-related work? Thanks a lot.

Which experiments are you thinking of, there are lots of different buffers out there?

Lets start with the simple PCR and Gel electrophoresis. Other buffer for other work (DNA extractn, gel extractn) comes in a kit right? Thanks.

maniatis gives info.

but, the buffers for pcr come with the enzyme and you can buy prepared gels and buffers.

Have also a look here, a good and extensive collection.

read the posts and paid attention to TE. Its is mentioned that "DNA being acidic will elute better in alkaline pH". But then, I come across a 0.1M pH 6.2 TE. Isn't that acidic?

yes, slightly. but, look at the rest of the procedure to see why it was being used instead of pH 8.
