Removing bubbles from collagen gel - (Mar/05/2008 )

Has anyone ever tried to do this with a vacuum prior to pouring the gel? I continue to get bubbles in my gel though I try to be careful with mixing. I'm looking for a way to reduce the bubbles. Any advice?

Any luck with the solvation of your problem?
I have the same problem you see, started a new topic since I did not find this post.

Sometimes I try a using a vacuum. I put parafilm over the top of my microfuge tube (which contains the gel), I poke a small hole and use the vacuum for about a min. I sometimes keep the sample on ice, but you have to be very careful in doing so in the vacuum (probably not the safest thing). This seems to get rid of bubbles.
