Statistics help with real-time relative quantification (RQ) values - (Feb/27/2008 )

Hi!
I need help with calculating standard deviations. I am doing real-time pcrs using applied biosystems software. I plot the RQ values that are calculated for me but I am not sure what sort of error bar to use. The RQ value is calculated from ct values from triplicate samples. Some published papers use error bars on RQ plots some do not have them. The more I think the more confused I get. Please help!
